Across Sub-Saharan Africa, there remains a significant gap in puberty and reproductive health education. In Tanzania, social norms and stigma often prevent adolescents from asking questions about their changing bodies due to secrecy, shame, and fear of punishment.

In response, Emmanuel International Tanzania launched the “Strength & Dignity” project in 2019. In partnership with municipal leaders and government schools, we provide holistic training on physiological, social, and spiritual aspects of often-taboo topics such as puberty and menstruation.

Girls receive 6 hours of menstrual health education and essential hygiene resources. Each dignity kit includes 4 reusable menstrual pads, locally manufactured in our village office, and a government-endorsed puberty education book.

To date, this project has reached over 6,000 adolescents, equipping young people with knowledge, dignity, and confidence!
